We lived in Cape Town for 40 years and Maestro's was one of our favourites.
What a huge disappointment on this visit to find the standard of food and service has dropped so far.
Indifferent, slow, non-attentive service in spite of the early hour and only 1/4 to 1/3 of tables occupied.
Snails and calamari starters, kingklip and mussels main...all of it was so-so, a tad too greasy and overcooked, served with scant attention to presentation and detail.
This is still a great venue for drinks on the deck, with a majestic sunset when we visited (get there early to get a seat), although the Margarita and Mojito we ordered were of extremely poor quality... so best stick to a glass of wine or beer... and then best head off for a quality restaurant if you are in any way serious about food, drink and service.
