So many establishments this well located turn into tourist traps with poor quality food, neglected décor and harassed careless staff.
East Head café has it all : stunning location at the mouth of the lagoon, great décor and wall to wall customers (cue of customers waiting for tables to come free).
Yet service remains sharp and efficient, and the quality of the food remains 5 star. All meals and desserts we saw served at adjoining tables appeared of equally high standard, and all were expertly and carefully presented. The fresh and clean décor is pointedly constantly and routinely refreshed by the waiters, meaning the place looked as fresh and attractive one hour before closing as it must have looked at opening time.
We went for last minute dessert only and enjoyed an outstanding banana, with top quality ice cream and rich chocolate sauce, as well as an apple and blueberry crumble rich in fruit and encased in a very good and expertly made crumble.
High quality coffee and delicious chai tea complemented our very satisfying visit.
A jewel among the very best in Knysna, well worth a visit.
